As a 21st-century educator, I strongly believe it is pertinent to provide real-world connections that include both factual and hypothetical information to ignite the curiosity of students. Guided discovery and hands-on learning allow students to make meaningful connections through the application of collaborative learning, creativity, communication, and critical thinking. I encourage students to take risks and to develop the mindset that struggle time is a necessary part of learning. Whether presenting the students with an actual problem or a simulation, perceptible experiences promote engagement and foster academic growth.

Stick it out until you figure it out is a phrase I often recite to students. The purpose of this phrase is to encourage perseverance while problem-solving. The ultimate goal of education is to create life-long learners who are capable of contributing to our ever-changing society. Developing strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and a perseverant attitude is necessary to the future success of our students, our community, and our world.

In order to educate and prepare well rounded critical thinkers, teachers must understand the diverse needs of learners. Knowing each student's learning style, interests, and academic abilities is key to planning differentiated instruction which promotes creativity, autonomy, and innovation. My goal is to reach them where they are and push them to their highest potential by nurturing their self-confidence and reminding them of their true potential. I strive to instill the belief that giving up is not an option. No matter how long it takes, consistent effort and a growth mindset can and will lead to growth.
